1.-NASA: Enabling Scientific Discovery. A cargo de Andrea I. Razzaghi. Director, NASA Office of JPL Management and Oversight.
ABSTRACT: Travel with me through space to explore how NASA unlocks scientific mysteries, from the complexities of our home planet, through the fascinating riddles of the known Universe!
In her current role, Andrea I. Razzaghi is the NASA Official in Charge at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). Prior to coming to JPL, Andrea served in senior executive roles at NASA Headquarters, including Deputy Director of Astrophysics, with a portfolio of over 20 NASA missions and international partnerships, and Assistant Director of Planetary Science, with a portfolio of over a dozen NASA missions and international partnerships. Andrea started her NASA career as a Mechanical Engineer at the Goddard Space Flight Center, where she grew to establish a distinguished background in project management, executing the development and delivery of successful, complex space science systems, from instruments to full missions. Prior to NASA, Andrea gained experience as a Defense contractor working on engineering development projects for the United States Navy. During her career, Andrea was called to serve in the White House as a Policy Analyst in the Office of Science and Technology Policy. Andrea holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Brown University and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering design from The Catholic University of America.
2.- Unveiling Our Universe Through Advances in Space Technology. A cargo de A cargo de Charles Norton. Deputy Chief Technologist at NASA/JPL.
ABSTRACT: The mission of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory is to discover the secrets of our universe through robotic space exploration. Spanning Earth, Astrophysics, and Planetary Science, much of our scientific understanding depends upon the development and use of specialized technologies that enable space missions to expand our knowledge, while making history along the way. Together, lets explore how space technology helps us find our place in the cosmos.
Dr. Charles Norton is the Deputy Chief Technologist at NASA JPL/Caltech responsible for JPL’s technology strategic planning, research, and infusion into flight missions. Across his nearly 30-year career with JPL and NASA he has led and performed research spanning high-performance scientific computing, information and instrument systems technology, and small satellite science and technology flight missions. Charles is a recipient of numerous awards including the JPL Lew Allen Award, NASA Exceptional Service Medal, NASA Software of the Year, and the NASA Outstanding Public Leadership Medal. He is also an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
3.- Our Shared Journey through the Cosmos. A cargo de Kevin Coggins . Deputy Associate Administrator for the NASA SCaN program.
ABSTRACT: NASA’s Space Communication and Navigation program, or SCaN, serves as the program office for all of NASA’s space communications operations. Over 100 NASA and non-NASA missions rely on SCaN’s two networks, the Near Space Network and the Deep Space Network, to monitor Earth’s weather and effects of climate changes, support lunar exploration, uncover the solar system and beyond, and peer back in time to understand the origins of the universe. Reliable space communication and navigation systems are critical to every NASA mission. Spacecraft commands, never-before-seen images, and scientific data are sent and received daily by NASA’s giant antennas on Earth. From the Voyager mission exploring beyond our solar system, to astronauts onboard the International Space Station, space communications provide the crucial connection to our home planet.
Kevin Coggins is the Deputy Associate Administrator for the NASA SCaN program. He is responsible for the development, acquisition, and management of reliable and cost-effective communications and navigation services to meet NASA and other Government Agency requirements for human and robotic space exploration programs in Earth, Lunar, Mars, and Deep Space. Kevin has served in senior executive roles in industry and the government, including as the Army’s first director of the Assured PNT Cross-Function Team and Direct Reporting Program Manager for PNT. Kevin’s industry experience ranges from senior executive roles at Booz Allen Hamilton, engineering roles across the aerospace and defense industry, and founder of a technology startup. Kevin is a native of Pensacola, Florida, and is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he served as a Force Reconnaissance Team Leader. He has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida, is a Senior Member of the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers and a Strategic Advisor to the Space ISAC, and has studied at the Naval Postgraduate School, Defense Acquisition University, and Darden School of Business.
